Community

RR provides community assistance and support to improve lives and promote aspirations of refugees, asylum seekers and immigrants, in particular but not exclusively Syrians and other Arabic speakers in the UK. RR has established an advice service that provides support with benefits, job searches, and immigration matters, thus working to improve the economic and social well-being of British Syrian residents and immigrants from other countries, helping them to become self-reliant in their new country. RR also brings the Syrian community together during these difficult times experienced in their mother country through organising social gatherings and monthly seminars that promote constructive discussions. Our activities are open to the public and are highly successful in bringing the Syrian community together with the wider community.

Syria, Sarajevo, Manchester: Manchester Heritage Festival Event

We attended the 4 June event 'Syria, Sarajevo, Manchester: Beyond the Statistics' hosted by a group of community volunteers as part of the Manchester Heritage Festival. This event featured two survivors from the Bosnia genocide and one speaker from the Syrian community of Manchester.

Volunteer Lunch

We hosted a volunteer appreciation lunch on 2 June for our wonderful team of volunteers. We enjoyed a meal of traditional Syrian foods and sweets and pampered our volunteers!

Syria Relief Annual Dinner

We attended Syria Relief's annual dinner on 21 May which provided the community with an update about its work inside Syria and encouraged audience members to continue to support the charity's efforts. The event was well attended and the charity was able to fundraise a record amount.
