Vigil in Memory of Jo Cox MP

In the aftermath of the brutal murder of Jo Cox MP, we participated in a vigil in her memory in Piccadilly Gardens on 17 June. We delivered a speech on behalf of Manchester's Syrian community given our special connection with her. Jo was a staunch advocate for civilian protection in Syria. We highlighted her courageous work in keeping the Syrian narrative alive in Parliament and stressed how much we will all miss her. Jo was truly a beacon of hope at a time when there was not much hope for Syrians in this country. We ended by expressing our hope that MPs and communities across the country will continue the work that she started.
