On Wednesday 11 September, we successfully hosted the screening of “Cathy Come Home 1969”, one of the UK’s most influential TV programmes of all time. The screening represented the reality for thousands of UK citizens stuck in the vicious cycle of homelessness with all its devastating consequences.
On Wednesday 3rd of July 2017, we successfully hosted the screening of Under The Wire (2018), which flings us on to the frontline of the final joint assignment of the legendry war correspondent Marie Colvin and her colleague, the distinguished photographer Paul Conroy, covering the plight of Syrian civilians besieged in Homs, Syria.
We had a fruitful film screening, poetry performance and panel discussion at HOME Manchester on Monday 29 April 2019. The film screening MemoriesfromSyria showed excerpts of the stories of Syrians in the UK who shared, in their own words, some of the experiences that they underwent either throughout the conflict in Syria, through their journeys to reach safety in Europe and through rebuilding their lives in the UK.
On Sunday 28 April 2019, we hosted the screening of Nae Pasaran (2018), which reveals the tremendous impact made by Scottish factory workers 40 years ago against Pinochet’s Air Force in Chile. The workers refused to repair the warplanes engine in an act of solidarity against the violent military coup in Chile.
On Sunday 27 January 2019, we hosted the screening of True Stories of Love, Life, Death and Sometimes Revolution (2012), documentary about the suffering of Syrian women, followed by Q&A with co-director Lilibeth Cuenca Rasmussen via Skype from Denmark.
