A City Seen: Memories from Syria

We had a fruitful film screening, poetry performance and panel discussion at HOME Manchester on Monday 29 April 2019. The film screening MemoriesfromSyria showed excerpts of the stories of Syrians in the UK who shared, in their own words, some of the experiences that they underwent either throughout the conflict in Syria, through their journeys to reach safety in Europe and through rebuilding their lives in the UK. The poetry performance was wonderful as Samir Kanou was reading some of his beautiful poetry in Arabic with English translation.
The panel discussion was inspiring and highly engaging as our four Syrian participants: Amneh, Hanan, Ayman, and Ahmad had the opportunity to connect with the audience and to share their account on their experience in Syria and the UK.The beautiful and creative artwork of Amany Al-ali, the Syrian Apple was on display through the panel discussion. We would like thank all our four participants for their bravery and enormous contribution to the event yesterday. We would also like to thank Anne Louise Kershaw from HOME for her endless effort and support to facilitate this event.
