Rethink Rebuild Society organised a social gathering for the Syrian community in Manchester on 31 December at the Werneth House in Oldham. More than 300 Syrians gathered to socialise and enjoy their time together and to eat delicious Shawerma and Falafel sandwiches. Children also enjoyed their time playing and having some fun with some competitions.
As part of a joint project with Lancashire County Council, Rethink Rebuild Society organised a meeting with Syrian refugees sponsored by Lancashire County Council on Sunday 15th of July 2018. The project aimed to assess the Health and Wellbeing of the families under the Refugee Resettlement Programme.
We are happy to report that our 8th Annual Syrian day, celebrated on Sunday the 17th of June at the Abraham Moss Community School, was a great success! More than 1500 people from all different backgrounds came together to celebrate Eid Alfitr, with delicious Syrian food and traditional music, in addition to the children entertainment and the adult quizzes.
On Friday the 1st of June we hosted a fundraising iftar to support Iqraa School in the Western suburbs of the Aleppo province, Syria. This school is funded by Manchester Community and implemented in collaboration with Syria Relief Charity. The school opened its doors for Syrian children in September 2014 and it accommodated about 500 students in 2015.
