On 14 October, a fantastic finish for the "Celebrating Syria" Festival 2018 was this mini-concert by our young choir. These lovely children learnt 4 beautiful songs in 3 languages after just 6 hours of training. What a feat!
They sang 'This is my city, this is my town, we love rainy Manchester', 'Amani: We want peace', 'Beautiful my country' and 'Swada'.
As part of ‘Celebrating Syria' Festival 2018, on 12 October 2018, Dr Alessandro Columbu of Manchester University presented a talk on the life and oeuvre of the Syrian short story writer Zakaria Tamer. Widely considered the father of the modern Syrian short story, Tamer’s works have influenced entire generations of Arab writers and readers.
