On 29 April 2018, we hosted a screening of Syria: The Impossible Revolution (2017), which was followed by a Q&A session with film directors Ronan Tynan and Anne Daly.
The event attracted a large number of attendees and we struggled to fit everyone in our multi-facility room.
The old Manchester-Liverpool tradition of rivalry in football has been faithfully followed by members of the Syrian community in both cities.
Two teams representing the Syrian community in Manchester and Liverpool played a match on 28 April 2018 in the PlayFootball Liverpool football pitch.
On 23 April 2018, our Managing Director, Dr Haytham Alhamwi, was invited to attend an international symposium entitled: ‘Antisemitism and Immigration in Western Europe Today: is there a connection?’ held in the Houses of Parliament.
On Wednesday the 18th of April, we hosted an information session about airport security checks. The session was delivered by Detective Chief Inspector Janet Hudson, Counter Terrorism Policing: North West, in addition to three officers from GMP’s Counter Terrorism Unit.
On Tuesday the 10th of April Dr Haytham Alhamwi was invited by AKS Lytham Independent School to expalin to their Sixth Form students what is happening in Syria. The presentation astounded the students who listened to some hard-hitting stories and first hand experiences of the war in Syria.
