On Tuesday 26 March 2024, we hosted an iftar specifically for women. Dozens of women, including newly arrived refugees and asylum seekers, attended the event. Attendees enjoyed delicious food and refreshments.
On Fridays 15 March, 22 March and 5 April, we held three community iftars at our centre. More than 100 individuals, including asylum seekers and refugees who recently arrived in Manchester, joined us for delightful evenings filled with delicious hot meals.
On Wednesday 28 February 2024, our Research and Advocacy Officer Dr Moaz El Sayed represented us at The University of Manchester’s HCRI 'Careers Expo'. The event offered university students insights into organisations, volunteering, jobs, and training opportunities in the third sector.
On Thursday 22 Feb, we hosted an online session discussing the provision and accessibility of NHS mental health services for refugees, featuring Researcher Leila Saeed.
On Wednesday 21 February 2024, we hosted social and recreational activities for the youth in our community, creating a delightful opportunity for gathering, connecting, making new friends, engaging in various games and board games, and enjoying some snacks and drinks together.
On Wednesday 21 February 2024, we actively participated in the celebration of International Mother Language Day at Longsight Library & Learning Centre in Manchester. Visitors had the chance to enjoy Arabian Coffee and sample delicious Syrian sweets. The event was delightful, with a great turnout.
On Friday, 09 February 2024, we organised a social gathering for women. It provided an opportunity to connect, meet one another, socialise, and engage in activities such as table tennis and board games. Additionally, the event featured a presentation by Dr. Yasmine Nahlawi on the topic of hate crimes in society and how to report them.
On Wednesday 07 February 2024, we hosted a workshop in partnership with Yaran North West. The event was successful. People regardless of background, gathered to explore the challenges and triumphs of therapeutic work with refugees and asylum seekers.
On Tuesday, 06 February 2024, Rethink Rebuild Society participated in an end-of-project event to meet with the funders, Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, and other organisations that received funding to conduct various projects promoting Community Diagnostic Centers (CDCs) among different communities in the UK.
On Friday, 26 January 2024, we hosted a film screening of "The Tower" followed by a Q&A with director Mats Grorud, who joined us remotely from Norway via Zoom. The film tells the story of Wardi, an 11-year-old Palestinian girl in a refugee camp in Lebanon, who learns about her family's history through stories told by 3 previous generations.
