On Saturday, 25 May, we hosted a roundtable discussion on Migration, Criminality, and Criminalisation, featuring perspectives from the UK, Morocco, and France. The discussion centred on the repression of individuals and organisations supporting migrants and refugees amidst challenging environments.
We were joined by activists, volunteers, NGO practitioners, researchers, journalists, and other concerned citizens, fostering an important dialogue on how to build politics of solidarity amidst politics of fear. This event is part of a project led by anthropologist Sébastien Bachelet Sebastien Bachelet: “Acts/Crimes of Solidarity: An Ethnographic Study of Illegalisation and Criminalisation Amongst Pro-Migration Activists and Other Citizens”.
The event also showcased a remarkable exhibition of photographs by Morocco-based photographer Amine Oulmakki (‘Hors-Champ’ – ‘خارج المجال’).
It was a truly remarkable day with a great turnout and thought-provoking discussions. Thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to the success of this event.
