On Monday 19 Nov, we attended a meeting organised by Migrants Organise charity. The meeting was attended by various Manchester-based charities working with refugees and asylum seekers.
A delegation representing from the Ministry of the Interior, Finland visited our centre on 15th of November. The delegation was interested in visiting organisations from across the public, voluntary & community sector to talk about work taking place to:

Rethink Rebuild Society and another six organisations have written UK Prime Minister Theresa May, appealing for assistance for 50,000 displaced Syrians in the Rukban camp in southeast Syria, near the Jordanian border.

On 14 October, a fantastic finish for the "Celebrating Syria" Festival 2018 was this mini-concert by our young choir. These lovely children learnt 4 beautiful songs in 3 languages after just 6 hours of training. What a feat!
They sang 'This is my city, this is my town, we love rainy Manchester', 'Amani: We want peace', 'Beautiful my country' and 'Swada'.

On the final evening of our "Celebrating Syria" Festival 2018, 13 October, we were treated to a fascinating night of Syrian music by the amazing Masters of Syria, an ensemble of artists from the Syrian National Orchestra.
As part of ‘Celebrating Syria' Festival 2018, on 13 October, Syrian calligraphist Abdullah Al-Anezi led a workshop on the art of Arabic calligraphy in Longsight Library. Participants learned the basics of Arabic artistic handwriting and practised used a reed pen (qalam) and ink.
