Not Forgotten: The Suffering of Assad’s Prisoners

On Saturday 24th November, in Cheadle Muslim Asscoiation, Haytham Alhamwi gave a talk about the story of the people of his hometown, Daraya, in Assad’s jails many of whom were tortured to death or extra-judicially executed in those jails.

Dr Alhamwi stressed the fact that although the world has gone silent on the oppression taking place within Assad’s prisons, the suffering, brutality and murder continue unabated on a daily basis.

The talk was received with particular interest as Haytham, a former political detainee, was giving a first hand account of what life is like in the prisons of Assad.
