On Sat 29 May we hosted a photography workshop delivered by Azee Ahmed. The participants learnt the art of taking photos using their own mobile phones. Participants enjoyed the workshop, and it was good to see familiar faces again.
We are thrilled to introduce a series of five (5) videos in Arabic language that aim to raise awareness about the Health System in England amongst Arabic-speaking communities.
It was lovely to resume events at our centre by hosting two visual art workshops on making flowers using ceramic dough, paint, and patterns.
The workshops were run on 19th and 22nd May by the amazing Khalida and Manya Alkhmri, who are both Syrian artists based in Manchester.
This Ramadan, we successfully secured considerable amount of the funding required for the running of Iqraa School in north Syria for the upcoming academic year. We feel blessed to have been able to support the school over the past years. We are grateful to our community in Manchester and their friends for their genrousity.
Rethink Rebuild Society and a group of UK Syrian organisations handed a letter to the Danish Ambassador, to oppose the Danish government's decision to repatriate Syrian refugees on the perception that Syria is safe to return to. Syria cannot be safe when it is still ruled by the same regime that forcibly displaced millions of Syrians.
On Monday 3 May, 2021 at 6:00 PM, RR hosted an online session entitled “Islamic Arts and the Holy Qur‘ān”. The information session was delivered by Syrian artist and calligrapher Abdullah Al-Anezi who talked about the history of Arabic calligraphy especially in relation to the writing of the Muṣḥaf (Holy Qurān).
On Thursday 20 April at 6:00 PM, RR hosted an important session entitled “Your nutrition in Ramadan”. Presented by Dr Abdulmanan Fadel, Lecturer in Liverpool John Moores University
The information session provided helpful advice on our eating and drinking habits during the month of Ramadan when Muslim observe fast from sunrise to sunset.
Rethink Rebuild Society's manager, Dr Haytham Alhamwi, delivered a lecture as part of a Reconstruction and Development course at the University of Manchester on Thursday, 15 April 2021. Dr Alhamwi explained the Syrian crisis and the reasons that led millions of Syrians to flee Syria.
On Wednesday 7 and Thursday 8 April at 7:00 PM, RR hosted 2-session crash course in using spreadsheets effectively.

On 24 March 2021, the Home Secretary Priti Patel made a statement to parliament setting out the new plan for immigration, including the deportation of refugees and asylum seekers arriving in the UK via routes deemed illegal or unauthorised by the government.
