During summer holidays, we successfully completed a training workshop for Table Tennis for youngsters. The training was organised by a qualified coach with a considerable experience in table tennis. Youngsters truly enjoyed their time and learnt some skills to help them improve and excel in this game.
On Saturday and Sunday 9 & 10 July 2022, we held Eid al-Adha Celebrations at our new centre. For 2 consecutive evenings, our centre was open for all to come and celebrate Eid with their families, friends and loved ones. Lots of fun activities, competitions, games, and sweets were organised and everyone, especially the kids had an exciting time.
On Tuesday 28 June and Tuesday 5 July, we held our first events at our new centre by organizing two introductory Zumba session for ladies only. It was a great opportunity for our ladies to reconnect with each other in a funny, sociable, and healthy manner by practising Zumba and having a great time with each other.
Amidst the continued refugee crisis and its ramifications regionally and globally, Rethink Rebuild Society participated in a timely and important workshop of academic & practitioners: Syrian refugees in regional & global context, organised by The London School of Economics and Political Science - LSE in London.
Asylum seekers in Britain are reported to be amongst those to be sent to Rwanda. Approximately 17 people from Syria, Sudan and Egypt who are being held at “the Broke House” immigration removal centre nearby Gatwick Airport, started to protest when they were informed that they would be deported to Rwanda on 14th June 2022 as part of a controversial new plan.
