On Saturday 22 Oct we had the honour to host a distinguished panel at our new premises of Rethink Rebuild Society. The panel featured a conversation with the renowned humanitarian surgeon, Professor David Nott OBE, author of the best-selling memoir “War Doctor”, and Co-Founder of David Nott Foundation.
On Thursday 20 October RR hosted an online course about coding entitled "Coding 4 Children Part II" and delivered by "Kids&Codes" organisation. The targeted participants were young people between 8 and 12 years old from a refugee or migrant background. The course was attended by children who showed their enthusiasm to learn about coding.
It was a great evening celebrating the academic achievements of undergraduate Syrian students who graduated in 2022 from different universities with different degrees in the UK. The event took place in our centre on Sunday 16 October.
We are proud of Syrian students' success, and we wish them all the best in their academic and career endeavours.
We were happy to participate in a guided walk round parts of the Manchester Peace Trail to raise funds for the Manchester Group of Amnesty International. Thanks to Steve Roman for leading our Human Rights guided walk yesterday and to everyone who supported the event
On Thursday 6th October, we hosted the book launch of “Seeking Asylum and Mental Health: A Practical Guide for Professionals”. It was more than a book launch as we had the opportunity to hear from editors and authors of the book about the fascinating work they do.
On Wednesday 28 September, we hosted the film screening of Ken Loach film ‘It’s a Free World’ followed by tea, biscuits, and thought-provoking discussion! It was a lovely event that witnessed a great participation. Thank you to all that attended, and we look forward to welcoming you to our next screening!
On Saturday 24 September 2022 and as part of our collective effort and social responsibility to give back to our beloved city of Manchester, we organised a litter picking activity in Wilmslow Road and neighbouring Park Crescent. It was a joyful activity especially for kids who joined their parents in this great cause.
We are thrilled to win the BBC Radio Manchester Make a Difference Awards 2022 in the category Community Group for our effort in helping refugees and asylum seekers rebuild their lives and settle into life in Greater Manchester. It is a great testament to the work we do and a motivation to continue helping our community to withstand different kinds of challenges in the UK.
On Sunday 18 September 2022, we held an open discussion about the challenges of raising kids in Britain.
On Wednesday 14 Sep 2022, Rethink Rebuild Society hosted an information seminar on University Application held by Dr Emily Cooksey. This seminar was useful for GCSE and A level students thinking about attending university. It was open for everyone, students and parents.
