Meeting with Sir Peter Fahy

On 4 April, RR met with the Chief Constable of Greater Manchester Police and head of ‘Prevent’ Programme, Sir Peter Fahy. RR raised issues regarding airport security checks and police visits to Syrian homes. Both parties expressed their wish to address concerns shared by the Syrian community.

Meeting with RAPAR

RR met with RAPAR (Refugee and Asylum Seeker Participatory Action Research) on 23 March and discussed issues pertaining to the Syrian community such as the bank account closure campaign and the best ways to deal with the police. RAPAR suggested organizing a know-your-rights workshop in the near future for the Syrian community by the Northern Police Monitoring Project

Meeting with Charles Farr

Charles Farr is the Director of the Office for Security and Counter Terrorism. RR was invited by the Muslim Council of Britain to the meeting to be held on 21 March. Peter Fahy, Chief Constable of Greater Manchester Police, attended the meeting on behalf of Mr. Farr who apologised due to commitments.

Meeting with John Leech MP

RR met with Mr John Leech MP for Withington on 8 March. RR raised issues pertaining to the Syrian community especially bank account closures, airport security checks and the re-activation of a parliament petition to open humanitarian corridors in Syria.

Meeting with CIIr. Suzanne

Meeting with CIIr. Suzanne

Cllr. Suzanne Richards and Cllr. Luthfur Rahman paid RR a visit at its office on 19th February. The executive office of RR introduced the organization to the councillors and discussed with them possible cooperation between the Council & RR as well as the local elections in May.
