On Friday 10 March 2023 we hosted a dinner for our local community. It was an exciting event. It included delicious hot dinner, calligraphy and painting activities, presentation on the cost of living crisis, adult quiz, and children's room with film and coloring. The dinner attracted more 100 people. The atmosphere was warm and lovely.
We hosted 2 events to our community to practise their English conversation skills with friendly native English speakers. The 1st event was held online on the 3rd of Feb 2022 whilst the 2nd event was at our centre on the 3rd of Mar 2022. All levels were welcome. It was a great opportunity to build confidence and employability skills.
Rethink Rebuild Society in accordance with a group of Syrian organisations operating in the UK sent a letter to the Foreign and Home Office, asking them to trigger a special and exceptional mechanism to issue a visa for Syrian families directly affected by the earthquake in Syria and Turkey and those who have first-degree relatives in Britain, in addition to asking them to
On Sunday 12 February 2023, we hosted an awareness session on hate crime in our center. The session was presented by our very own Dr Hammood Obaid and was given in Arabic. Dr Obaid stressed the importance of recognising and reporting hate crime. After the session, the floor was open for Q&A and the attendees added their input on their experiences.
On Wednesday 01 February 2023, we hosted a very informative seminar on the state of the British economy and the causes that led to the cost of living crisis. A depressing reality that's worth learning more about.
A big take home message also about strengthening communities building links and coming together.
