On Tuesday 2nd May 2017, in collaboration with Refugee Action, Rethink Rebuild Society launched a community development project for the new families who arrived recently in the Liverpool region.
On Wednesday 10th May we met with Detective Chief Superintendent Russ Jackson, head of the North West Counter Terrorism Unit.
We attended an event with Shadow Foreign Secretary Emily Thornberry on 21 April hosted by Afzal Khan's campaign for MP for Gorton. In the Q&A session, we asked Emily whether Labour would continue to support aid drops on besieged areas as it called for on 13 December 2016 in the context of the East Aleppo siege.
We held an event at our centre on 19 April with Gorton Labour candidate for MP Afzal Khan. Afzal discussed the importance of being engaged in the political process and of making our voices heard. He also took questions from the audience on Syria and Libya, and stressed his long-standing opposition to the Assad regime.
On 13th April 2017, we attended the Manchester City of Sanctuary's launch of the booklet 'Everything you want to know' for asylum seekers by asylum seekers, which is a very useful resource for those trying to resettle in Britain. It was a great event with the chance to connect with many people in the refugee and migrant field, to see how we can work together.
