A memorial event was held on Friday 17 January at the British Muslim heritage Centre in Manchester. The event was organised by Rethink Rebuild Society, the umbrella of the Syrian community of Manchester, and sponsored by Amnesty International UK.
Many prominent guests were there to commemorate Dr. Abbas Khan and the other victims of Syria's prisons.
On Saturday, 4th May, the Syrian Community in Manchester organized a silent protest against the World's silence on the situation in Syria. The protest was staged at Piccadilly Gardens from 1 to 2 pm. The participants had their mouths taped as a symbolic reference to the way the world remained silent while the Syrian people were being killed by the Assad’s regime.
