We held a volunteer workshop for new volunteers aged 18-25 using the V-inspired model. Volunteers worked in groups to create project proposals that they can execute through Rethink Rebuild Society, which they will further develop over the coming three weeks and submit an application for to receive a grant of up to £500.
David Cameron announced that up to 20,000 Syrian refugees will be arriving in the UK by 2020. We know that priority will be given to vulnerable orphans, and as such, we want to make sure that the Syrian community is equipped to take in some of these orphan refugees and provide them support that is specific to their language, culture, and background.
Dr Haytham Alhamwi, RR Managing Director, gave a lecture on Saturday 12 December 2015 to the young students at Altrincham mosque about Jihad in Islam. He explained to them why ISIL is wrong and why their actions are illegal in Islam. He also informed the students of the brutality that ISIL is committing in Syria.

Mr Mitchell insisted that we should focus on making the political process successful. While we agreed, we informed Mr Mitchell that our top priority as Syrians is civilian protection primarily from Assad's barrel bombs.
On the margins of Amnesty UK’s Human Rights Day event at the Speaker's House in Parliament, Dr Haytham Alhamwi, RR managing director, had quick chats with the Labour Leader Jeremy Corbyn and Shadow Chancellor John McDonnell. The chats focused on the importance of stopping Assad’s barrel bombs to achieve any success in the political track.

Dr Alhamwi talked about the work of Amnesty through his experience as a political prisoner in Syria and as a relative of many prisoners of conscience.
