Haytham Alhamwi speaks at the University of Cambridge

Rethink Rebuild Society's Advocacy Director, Haytham Alhamwi, spoke at a panel discussion about the refugee crisis at the University of Cambridge on 4th February. The event was organised by Cambridge University Calais Refugee Action Group and was held at Magdalene College, where over one hundred Cambridge students and academics. Dr Alhamwi called for "a proper integration programme for the new refugees to benefit them and to benefit from them" and argued that a proper response to the refugee crisis meant dealing with the root cause of the crisis, the Assad regime. Also on the panel, among others, was Lord Williams, the former Archbishop of Canterbury, who spoke about the need to change the narrative of the refugee crisis and appreciate that Britain has not done enough.
