A very dynamic discussion at our Remembering Srebrenica film viewing of 'Women Who Refuse to Die', on 24th July, about how letting hate, such as Islamophobia, go unchecked can lead to genocide. It was very empowering to see such a diverse audience talking of ways to tackle hate, and inspiring to hear from Bosnian women and how they are spreading a message of peace and tolerance despite being victims of one of Europe's worst genocides.
A lot of parallels were drawn with the Syrian conflict and refugee crisis today: how intolerance and hate can impact positive solutions and make current crises much worse.
Attendees agreed that tackling hate in all aspects of their lives is the way forward, especially when raising the next generation.
