We contributed a reflection piece to the eighth issue of 'Syria Notes' published on 11 April in which we wrote some thoughts about the fifth anniversary of the Syrian revolution. We highlighted that since the recent ceasefire in Syria, Syrians have returned to the streets to participate in anti-Assad demonstrations, affirming their resolve to continue in their 5-year struggle for freedom and dignity. We also stressed the constructive role that foreign powers must assume in order to achieve a lasting peace for Syria, namely to achieve civilian protection, stem the flow of refugees, and reduce the threat of radicalisation.
