We met with Tim Farron MP during the Lib-Dems' York conference on 12 March. We first had a brief chat about the situation in Syria, and stressed the need to ensure that ceasefires and other international agreements are upheld by Russia and Assad. We highlighted that a collapse of the peace processes will either lead to a resumption of violence in the country, or will alternatively lead Assad and Russia to pursue a military victory, both of which will not lead to favourable results for Syria.
We furthermore discussed practical ways that the Lib-Dem party can take a lead on Syrian issues facing Syrians within the UK, such as issues with resettlement as well as banking problems for Syrian individuals and organisations. We look forward to building upon this productive meeting.
