The University of Manchester's Politics School hosting us today in a debate on the refugee crisis and what the UK should do in response to this crisis.
Panellists included:
Manchester International Law Centre Representatives: Professor Iain Scobbie, Dr Sara De Vido, and Maria Apostolaki
Dr Rob Ford, Senior Lecturer in Politics
Yasmine Nahlawi, Advocacy Officer at Rethink Rebuild Society
Dr Aoileann Ní Mhurchú, Lecturer in International Politics
Ambassador Zaid Noori, Consul-General of Iraq in Manchester
It was wonderful to engage with the fellow panellists and the students and to convey our message on Syria, namely that we need to help refugees with their immediate needs but more importantly we need to resolve the root cause of the conflict through implementation of a no-bombing zone. Many students came up to us after the event and asked how they could help, thank you!
