Speaking on the UK's policy in accepting 20,000 Syrian refugees by 2020, Rethink Rebuild Society's Advocacy & Policy Coordinator stressed on 30 September that Syrian voices should be at the forefront in shaping UK policy on Syria. She mentioned that not only do British Syrians have greatest insight as to what measures are most effective in welcoming new Syrians, but also that they hold UK interests into account given that they are British residents themselves. Currently, she claimed, Syrian voices have not been adequately listened to, neither in formulating national or international policy on Syria.
