On the 20th of May, Rethink Rebuild Society manager Dr Haytham Alhamwi attended a discussion session facilitated by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, with the Syrian Minister of Education, Dr Mohammad Abdulrahman Tarko, and the Syrian Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr Marwan Al-Halabi.
The meeting brought together academics, organisations, and professionals in education and research from the UK, including members of the Syrian British Council.
Key topics included improving education governance, strengthening academic and research cooperation between Syrian and British institutions, supporting Syrian-led initiatives in the UK, and addressing challenges in curriculum development and specialisations.
Participants highlighted the importance of continued collaboration between Syrian expertise abroad and educational institutions in Syria to support the advancement of education and research.
