On Sunday 15th June, Rethink Rebuild Society hosted a celebration for the students who took part in the Chemistry for Refugee Students workshops. It was a joyful event where students received their certificates, gifts and enjoyed inspiring talks and presentations.
Dr Abdullatif Alfutimie, the organiser of this project, gave a powerful speech about why he believes chemistry education is so important. We also heard moving reflections from some of the students about how much the workshops had meant to them. One of the students even did a live demonstration of some of the experiments, and we ended the event with pizza and plenty of smiles.
Thank you to the Royal Society of Chemistry for funding the project, to Dr Abdullatif for leading it, and to the students for their fantastic participation. We hope to see more projects like this supporting refugee children in the future.
