On Thursday 28th November, Rethink Rebuild Society had the privilege of participating in a heartwarming community dinner for asylum seekers at Birchfields Community Centre, an event beautifully organised by Caritas Shrewsbury. The evening was filled with warmth, joy, and a profound sense of solidarity, as community members and asylum seekers came together to share a meal and connect.
The dinner was more than just a gathering—it was an opportunity to build bridges and foster a sense of welcome and belonging for those newly arriving in Manchester. For many, it was a chance to experience the kindness and hospitality that defines our community, helping them feel supported and at home in their new surroundings.
As part of the celebration, Rethink Rebuild Society contributed Syrian cuisine, offering a taste of home to those who may be far from their families and familiar surroundings. Sharing our culture and food allowed us to connect on a deeper level and celebrate the rich diversity that makes Manchester such a vibrant and welcoming city.
We are deeply grateful to Caritas Shrewsbury for inviting us to be a part of this meaningful event, and we look forward to continuing our efforts to support asylum seekers and build a more inclusive community for all.
