On Wednesday 16th October, a special gathering took place at our centre, bringing together Arab women from various backgrounds to foster connections, share experiences, and learn about sexual health and family planning. This event, designed to empower women through knowledge, served as both a platform for socialisation and an essential space for education and support.
Dr. Reem Alhimandi was the guest speaker, providing valuable insights on navigating the NHS and accessing healthcare services related to sexual health and family planning. Her talk covered important topics such as contraception, sexual health screenings, and the importance of regular check-ups. She encouraged open dialogue, allowing attendees to ask questions and dispel common misconceptions about sexual health.
The event was marked by lively discussions and shared stories, helping women form new friendships and strengthen community bonds. Many participants expressed gratitude for the opportunity to connect and receive practical advice on health issues often considered taboo.
Feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive, praising the informative nature of the session and the supportive atmosphere. The gathering not only provided essential information but also built a network of women who can continue to uplift and support one another.
Special thanks go to Manchester City Council Population Health (CHEM) for their support in making this event possible.
