A Talk on Syrian Detainees at Manchester Amnesty Internatioanl

On Tuesday 14 May 2019, Manchester Amnesty International hosted a talk on Syrian detainees in Assad’s prisons. Our manager Dr Haytham Alhamwi delivered a touching presentation on the plight of thousands of Syrian civilians who have been unlawfully and arbitrarily detained primarily by the Assad regime and its affiliated militias. Alhamwi gave a comprehensive account of Syrians who have been subjected to various forms of brutal torture whilst others have died in detention as a result mistreatment and inhumane conditions. The talk shed the light on other thousand Syrian detainees whose fate remains unknown and unacknowledged by the Assad regime.
