Following Russia's employment of its eighth veto on Syria in the UN Security Council on 12 April, which effectively prevented the Council from authorising an investigation into the horrific 4 April 2017 chemical attack on the Syrian city of Khan Sheikhoun, we issued a briefing which presents the 'Uniting for Peace' mechanism as a means by which the UK and allies can work towards overcoming Russia's abusive vetoes in the UN Security Council with respect to Syria.
