As part of Journeys Festival International, Manchester Museum hosted our exhibition 'Silenced Voices: Syrian Women in Assad's Prisons' on 7 October. We held this exhibition in collaboration with Amnesty International's Manchester group and used it as a platform to educate people about the plight facing Syrian women in Assad regime prisons.
We attended an event hold by TellMAMA organisation on Tuesday 3rd October about "How Extremism Impacts on Hate Crime". The speakers highlighted an insight into hate crimes and the importance of tackling and reporting hate crimes in addition to some keyfindings from tellMAMA upcoming annual report on the state of anti-Muslim hate crime in 2016.
We held our monthly seminar on Sunday 01 Oct 2017 in which we discussed the open question: Are we still Syrians?
The open-platform discussion took place in our multi-facility room. No speakers were present and the floor was open to everyone to express their opinions.

This week, Rethink Rebuild volunteer George Morris attended the Labour Party conference in Brighton with colleagues from the Syria Solidarity Campaign. It was a great opportunity to speak to conference delegates and politicians, and we had a mainly positive response to our messages concerning refugees, civil society groups in Syria and civilian protection.
An alliance of Syrian organisations 'We Exist' released a letter on 20 September reiterates that the only long lasting solution for the conflict that has ravaged Syria rests on a meaningful political transition, guarantees for the respect of human rights and explicit measures for transitional justice.
Following our approval for a 'Building a Stronger Britain Together' grant, our Research & Policy Coordinator Dr. Yasmine Nahlawi attended a roundtable discussion on 20 September with Home Office Minister Baroness Williams to discuss issues regarding rising extremism in our communities.
A group of nine UK-based Syrian advocacy and community organisations released a policy document in September 2017 aimed at informing UK policy makers about the current situation in Syria and at outlining practical measures that the UK can undertake in order to promote and ensure civilian protection and justice.
We attended a meeting in London on 19 September organised by Common Purpose to bring together leaders from the Syrian diaspora in the UK and to hear from the experiences of Zrinka Bralo, Chief Executive of Migrants Organise and Bosnian refugee.
