Thou Shalt Not Hate: Film Screening & Discussion

On Wed 16 Feb 2022, RR was delighted to host the film screening and post-screening discussion of Thou Shalt Not Hate. The film talks about Simone, a renowned surgeon and the son of a Holocaust survivor, who rushes to the scene of a hit-and-run, but when he sees a Nazi tattoo on the victim’s chest, he leaves the man to die violating his Hippocratic Oath as a doctor.

Mindfulness & Selfacare Workshop

On Thursday, 27/01/2022, we hosted a workshop on how to increase self-awareness and self-care. The workshop was delivered by Ayesha Baig, a registered Counsellor. In this workshop, attendees learnt therapeutic skills via workbook, group sharing, peer work and breath work to improve their self-care. The workshop was interactive, and participants enjoyed the workshop.

"COVID is Still Here" Campaign

Rethink Rebuild Society successfully completed a 2-month campaign that aligns with the GMCVO campaign: “Safely Living with COVID-19”. During that campaign we posted tens of posts and materials on social media in Arabic to remind people across Greater Manchester that COVID is still here.

Charity Bazaar 4 Iqraa School

Between 9th and 11th December, RR was delighted to host a charity Bazaar in support of Iqraa School. Members from the local community in Manchester generously donated items that were sold at the bazaar.
The bazaar attracted a good turnout and was a good opportunity to reconnect and socialise with our lovely friends and visitors.

TED Talks: How Cognitive Surplus Will Change the World?

In partnership with Culture Entanglement, Rethink Rebuild Society hosted two community discussions in Arabic about TED Talks. On Sunday 28th November, Dr Nada Albunni talked about the idea behind TED Talks and how important it is for the Arab communities to get involved in this project which is a good way to learn about key issues being discussed in world nowadays.

Talk at Altrincham School for Boys

On Mon 29 Nov 2021, our manager, Dr Haytham Alhamwi was invited by the Islamic Society at Altringham School to talk about Syria and the plight of refugees. During the talk, Dr Alhamwi highlighted the work that RR does to help Syrians and other refugees to rebuild their lives and integrate with their surroundings.
