On Saturday 12 March 2022, we were happy to host the Novelist Khalid Khalifa as part of the 5th annual Celebrating Syria Festival. Khaled Khalifa was our guest at the first Celebrating Syria Festival 2017 when he joined on skype from Damascus.
Eating the Copper Apple is a soul-searching tale of identity by the poet and writer lisa luxx. It was performed on Sat 12 March 2022 at Home as part of Celebrating Syria Festival 2022.
Celebrating Syria Festival is all about Celebrating Syria’s art and culture. Exhibition tours are essential party of the festival. Syrian artists, in the UK or abroad, have continued their cultural and artistic production.
On this unforgettable evening of Friday 11 March 2022, we launched the 5th Celebrating Syria festival featuring a great live music performance and learning more about this year’s festival in an informal and welcoming atmosphere in the amazing Event Space at HOME.
RR participated in celebrating International Mother Language Day on Monday 21 February 2022 at Longsight Library & Learning Centre in Manchester.
We are happy to release a video (in Arabic language) that addresses three important types of cancer in the UK that can be diagnosed early by the NHS free screenings: breast cancer, cervical cancer, and bowel cancer.
On Wed 16 Feb 2022, RR was delighted to host the film screening and post-screening discussion of Thou Shalt Not Hate. The film talks about Simone, a renowned surgeon and the son of a Holocaust survivor, who rushes to the scene of a hit-and-run, but when he sees a Nazi tattoo on the victim’s chest, he leaves the man to die violating his Hippocratic Oath as a doctor.
On Thursday, 27/01/2022, we hosted a workshop on how to increase self-awareness and self-care. The workshop was delivered by Ayesha Baig, a registered Counsellor. In this workshop, attendees learnt therapeutic skills via workbook, group sharing, peer work and breath work to improve their self-care. The workshop was interactive, and participants enjoyed the workshop.
Rethink Rebuild Society was delighted to host 2 interactive workshops for youth about anti-social behaviour on 18/12/2021 and 22/01/2012 respectively. The workshop aimed to raise awareness about this issue which has a huge impact on our communities, and to prevent children and young people from becoming involved in such behaviours.
On Wed 13 January 2022, RR hosted a film screening and discussion about the movie Gholam. The movie is about an Iranian exile (Gholam) in London who is haunted by his past, gets involved in the conflicts of a total stranger and has to see it through until the end, in this mesmerising slow-burn thriller.
