RR in cooperation with Syria relief took the opportunity of Manchester BUPA run on Saturday 17th May for fund raising for school projects inside Syria. The amount of money collected from this event was £8811.
RR along with Palestinians Forum in the UK attended the 12th Palestinians in Europe Conference in Paris held on Saturday 3rd May and attended by many organisations, families, and individuals. The conference stressed the importance of Palestinian people’s return to Palestine.
National Coalition of Syrian Revolution and Opposition Forces in the UK and other Syrian groups in the UK sent a joined letter to Prime Minister Mr David Cameron about Bashar Al-Assad restoring and using poisonous gases against civilians.
Rethink Rebuild Society organised an indoor family funday on Sunday 13th April 2014 at Burnage Academy for Boys. The funday was a huge success. More than 500 people showed up and parents and children had loads of fun.
On 28 April, RR met with Tim Farron, president of Liberal Democratic Party and stressed that the UK government should put more pressure to stop the bloodshed in Syria by all means necessary.
RR organised on 25 April a debate about the Syrian crisis entitled ‘Have we been betrayed by the world around us or by our own values? The talk was followed by a lengthy discussion.
On 17 April, in an attempt to keep children in touch with Arabic culture, we showed an Arabic-speaking animated film, Rihlat Al Khulood, at our office followed by a short discussion. We intend to continue doing this activity in the future so keep an eye on our updates.
RR met with this refugee-supporting organization on 15 April and discussed how we can help Syrian newcomers to the UK. We were also given some information about the most vulnerable 500 refugees programme.
Mr Hafezi is a qualified solicitor, accredited police station representative and criminal court duty solicitor and advocate. RR met with him on 10 April to discuss several issues of importance to the community like airport stops and checks for Syrians and how to provide legal advice for Syrians.
The web lecture entitled ‘A reading of 150 years of Islamic History’ was organized by SYAN / Watan on 7 April. RR invited the interested to attend it in its office and have a discussion about it afterwards.
