Understanding Syria through Syrian Voices: Stories of Revolution, Home, and Hope
A Conversation with Professor Wendy Pearlman

Over 13 years, Professor Wendy Pearlman has interviewed more than 500 displaced Syrians around the world about their experiences of a brutal authoritarian regime, the popular uprising against it, and the subsequent war and displacement crisis. In this presentation, she shares and explores their stories collected in her two books, We Crossed a Bridge and It Trembled: Voices from Syria (2017) and The Home I Worked to Make: Voices from the New Syrian Diaspora (2024). These moving and inspiring personal testimonials provide a human context to the Syrian conflict, Syria’s recent liberation from the Assad regime, and the path ahead.

Both books will be available at a 50% discount.
