This episode:

Refugees are at an increased risk of mental health difficulties due to negative experiences across their migratory journey to a safe country. Post-migration stressors for refugees in the UK may be exacerbated by the social and economic challenges that may, in turn, affect their mental health. Therefore, NHS mental health services must be responsive to the mental health needs of refugees.

In this episode of Refugees, the Lived Experience, researcher Leila Saeed will tell us about the findings of her research (part of her masters degree) on the provision of and access to NHS mental health services for refugees in the UK. She will explore the barriers faced by refugees in accessing mental health services and some of the suggestions made by workers in the field to overcome these barriers.
