We invite you to the launch of our project “Memories from Syria” at Event Space in HOME on Saturday, March 30, at 2 p.m. sharp.
The “Memories from Syria” project is produced by Rethink Rebuild Society which is a Manchester-based charity and funded by the Building a Stronger Britain Together programme of the Home Office. It documents through video extremely compelling stories of Syrian refugees regarding their experiences in war, the immense tragedies and dangers that forced them to leave their country, why they chose to come to the UK, and how they have been contributing to their new society as refugees. Using the voice of Syrians themselves, the project thus promotes a positive alternative discourse surrounding the Syrian refugee experience, dispels common misconceptions, and tackles the climate of xenophobia in which extremist narratives thrive.
The launch event will start with opening speeches followed by the screening of a collection of videos from the project and a panel afterwards. The panel will provide an opportunity to create a space for discussion both on the project and the Syrian conflict. Please see the detailed agenda attached to this letter. The event will be in English.
We welcome all to join us on 30 March! To attend, please click HERE and book your place.
