The Syrian Apple: An Art Exhibition by Amany Al-ali from Idlib, Syria
We are proud to announce hosting our first art exhibition from an artist who lives inside Syria. Amani Al-ali is an artist who lives in the city of Idlib in the north of Syria. The Exhibition will be launched with a Q&A with the artist (via Skype from Idlib, Syria) on Wednesday 13th Feb 2019 at 7:00 pm.
After that, the Exhibition will be open between 13 February and 27 March 2019 (weekdays 9am-5pm except Wednesday. For a group tour at the exhibition please e-mail info@rrsoc.org or call 01612229779 /07730194083).
Amany’s first exhibition abroad is entitled ‘The Syrian Apple’, and it reflects the feelings and experiences many Syrians of the journey and the fate of what was once their green revolution.
‘I made sure that I depicted the green apple as complete, healthy and beautiful in all the drawings in order to emphasise that the Syrian Revolution is still strong, alive and beautiful,’ explained Amany. ‘For me, the Syrian Revolution is an idea, and ideas do not die. Ideas cannot be killed or extinguished. An idea may test the patience of those who carry it; it might transform them or make them into heroes as they die for it.’
