Rethink Rebuild Society (RR) extends greetings to all of you and hopes that you have had lovely and worm holidays.
As you are aware, numbers of Syrian refugees in the UK are in daily increase, and this put a big burden on our shoulders to help them and make sure that they find the support they need in this difficult time of their life. We would like to take this opportunity to ask you all to support us in helping them. If you have few hours every week to do voluntary work, please call us to tell you how you can help.

Services for New Syrian Arrivals
RR continues to provide help for the Syrian refugees to integrate and adapt to life in the UK. It is worth mentioning that RR is preparing for new educational and training services to help the Syrian community with different aspects of life.
Bank Closures Campaign
The campaign against bank closures for Syrian refugees in the UK, which was organised by RR, has received high media attention and solidarity from different people this month.

Platform of Syrian Organisations in the UK
RR took part last month in a two-session workshop run by International Alert on planning for a platform that incorporates all Syrian organisations operating in the UK.
Meeting with John Leech MP
A delegation from RR met with Mr. John Leech MP on 19 August. The meeting aimed at discussing the bank closures problem. Mr Leech promised to take the issue to the parliament.
New Arrivals Iftar
New Syrian Arrivals were invited to Iftar at Aljazeera restaurant on the 9th of Ramadan. It was a nice chance to meet them and have a lovely chat to build bridges with them.
Tahajjud Night for Syria and Gaza
RR organised a Tahajjud Night on the 20th of Ramadan. The prayers took place at KD Grammar School and lasted for two hours were people supplicated for peace in Syria, Palestine, Iraq and the whole Muslim world.
Eid Alfitr Party
This year’s Eid Alfitr celebration took place at Anchors Away Play on the 28th of July. More than 40 Syrian families gathered and had some Syrian sweets while their children enjoyed playing all the time.
Shawrma Lunch at Eid Alfitr
RR organised a shawrma gathering for the Syrians on Sunday 3rd August on the occasion of Eid Alfitr.
The 4th Syrian Day in Manchester
RR, in collaboration with the Palestinian Forum in Britain, organised the 4th Syrian Day in Manchester at Levenshulme High School on the 31st of August. John Leech MP and the commissioner of Greater Manchester police, Tony Lloyd, attended the event.
Return to Homs
RR staff attended the
“Return to Homs” movie at the Picturehouse Cinema in Liverpool on the 3rd of July. The movie features Abdulbasitt Assarout as the main character and presents the dilemma of the Syrian people in general and the people of Homs specifically.
Fundraising Iftar in Bradford
RR attended a fundraising iftar to support the Syrian doctors in Syria. The iftar was organised by the Syrian Association of Yorkshire and took place at the Anams Restaurant in Bradford on the 8th of Ramadan.
