Rethink Rebuild Society (RR), the umbrella organization of the Syrian Community of Manchester, will be issuing a bi-monthly newsletter with the aim of keeping you up-to-date on RR’s work as well as informing you of any upcoming events.
You will receive our emails from the new email
(info@rrsoc.org) so please add this email address to your contacts so that the messages are not treated as junk mail. We will stop using the old email

A prestigious event in memory of
Dr Abbas Khan was held at the BMHC in Manchester on 17th January. The event was entitled: ”Dr. Abbas Khan, we will never forget you.”

Silent Protest Against Starving our People in Palestinian Yarmouk Camp
On 2nd February, a protest against the Assad's regime use of starvation as a weapon against our people in Yarmook Camp, Damascus, was organised in Rusholme by the Palestinian Forum in Britain & RR.
A Seminar About the Palestinians in Syria
RR and the Palestinian Forum in Britain organised a seminar about “The situation of the Palestinians in Syria during the Syrian revolution” by Mr. Tarek Hamoud on 21st February at the Precinct Centre.
Educational Projects
RR in partnership with Syria Relief, Tauheedul Relief Trust and other charities are helping Syrian children get back to schools. Four regular schools and four field schools have been established in several locations inside Syria. Three other schools will start soon in the Eastern Ghouta of Damascus. The efforts comprise providing other types of support for schools such as training programmes, schools meals, schools uniforms, staff salaries, psychological support, books and stationary.
Meeting with Cllr Afzal Khan
Cllr. Afzal Khan paid RR a visit at its office on 23rd January. The executive office of RR introduced RR to Mr. Khan and discussed with him the ways and means that can practically help the Syrian cause for freedom and dignity and discussed the EU elections in May.
Meeting with CIIr. Suzanne
Cllr. Suzanne Richards and Cllr. Luthfur Rahman paid RR a visit at its office on 19th February. The executive office of RR introduced the organization to the councillors and discussed with them possible cooperation between the Council & RR as well as the local elections in May.
Meeting with Deputy Prime Minister
Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg MP had an open Q&A session at the BMHC on Friday 7th February. The evening was attended by key members of the community in Greater Manchester including members of the Syrian community.
Meeting with the Syrian Association of Yorkshire
The executive office of RR attended the monthly administrative meeting of the Syrian Association of Yorkshire (SAY) on 7th February and discussed possible cooperation between the two groups on various levels.
Admin Board Meeting
The admin board of RR who were elected in the last annual meeting have held two monthly meetings to discuss the issues of the community and to approve future plans.
